Kurisu has natural affinity for Lightning release jutsu, to which his skill is indeed classified as masterful. He has been said to be the most powerful lightning style user ever He dosen't like to combine nature types in the midst of battle, mainly due to his inexperience. He has advanced knowlege in all forms of shinobi combet and nature types, similar to Kakashi Hatake. (Albeit Kakashi has a practical knowlege compared to Kurisu.) His skill with intertwining jutsu in a three nature type attack is due to precise chakra control, and the omoigan. He can use the highest level of jutsu but prefers not to use S Rank because of the risk to others as well himself. His most powerful techniques are created himself, and he is the only user of said jutsu. One of his most powerful jutsu is Limelight, which is said to be the strongest lightning style jutsu in existence. His variation is that he can use is by himself (as opposed to four users in the four cardinal directions), but on a lesser scale. Albeit it does drain all his chakra, regardless of his condition. He is skilled in terms of taijutsu, as shown in his short bout with Zutto Taizen. He is skilled at dodging attacks as shown in his battle against Shunsatsu the Tsuchikage.His physical prowess is enough to throw a human being through a stone wall with relative ease. His speed is astounding, as it apperars that he will disappar from sight, and reappear in a split second. The title of Raikage, which means lightning shadow suits him well for his speed, along with his powerul attacks. While he is skilled in this aspect, he prefers not to use it, due to his laid back nature.
Intelligence Kurisu is laid back man, and also seemingly apathetic. But in reality, he is an exceptionaly intelligent shinobi. This is shown multiple times in his battles, and in his life as the Raikage. He is described by many as a master strategist by many, which is also shown in his battles. He never takes anything at face value, which seems to contridict his apathetic view. He is also known as a prominent teacher at the Cloud Academy, teaching strategy and tactics.
Prehaps Kurisu's primary advantage is the Omoigan, his clan's long lost kekkai genkai. The omoigan has one similar trait to the sharingan, but on a differant scale. It can analyze jutsu with amazing accuracy. The disadvantage to this is it requires the user's own abilty to analyze and counter what they see. Kurisu and Zutto both are the foremost masters of this dojutsu in the clan. It is rumored there is another level of omoigan as well. He has shown great skill with his eyes, but taijutsu is difficult to use because of the imbalance of physical energy, and chakra use. He was on the defensive for the first half of his battle because Zutto was a taijutsu master and omoigan master, and was proficient with the both. Kurisu is also capable of using wind style chakra, through his mastery of the omoigan.
His skill with the Eight Tails makes him powerful enough that even some other Kages fear his power. He has complete control over the beast, a rarity indeed. It is possible because of the beasts laid back nature, it is easier to control. He is capable of multiple chakra taxing jutsu due mainly to the Eight tail's chakra. He only uses it as a last resort, in the hopes of all fairness.
