| In the resulting speeds, and the closeness of the scythe to Ahatake's body, the pulling back of the cleaver only managed to collide with the back of the blade, which gave it the push it needed... The scythe blade, though diverted from its path, cut a deep gash through Ahatake's arm. The extension flung the blood onto the ground, and the blade was now glistened in crimson.

| "I beg to differ...." Jiriki said, lifting a finger towards Ahatake. "You see, in order to make sure they all do what they are supposed to, I injected the three projects with a dormant hydroflouric toxin. I can activate it at any time I wish to. However, killing me risks that toxin being activated automatically. By the time you finish spitting on my corpse, they'll be nothing but guts, bone, and skin. It would be a shame to throw away such valuable tools, but seeing as I'll have no use for them..."

| Abruptly, Jiriki raised his sword. The same Kido walls that had encircled them the first time once again came into play, sealing off all of entrance and exits to the area. "This is no time for a tactical retreat." He stated firmly, pointing the scythe at Ahatake. "Unless you want to give me an opportunity to escape with your beloved comrades, I suggest you throw away any thought of saving them and fight me."

| "Risk it, and those walls will automatically close in on you, crushing you to death." Jiriki countered, balancing the blade on his shoulder. "Do you think I would prepare a Kido that was unstable in the face of high-level reiatsu such as yours? I knew you would bring several Captain-level opponents in order to face me here, so I made preparations. You won't be able to break through my barrier with such a simple and caveman-minded method."
